New Moon Flower Dye and Medicine Making

  • better than jam 20 Grattan Street Brooklyn, NY, 11206 United States (map)

The new moon symbolizes new beginnings and is a great time to set some intentions and goals for the month ahead.  Every month when it rolls around I like to do something special for myself, often in a ritualistic way in order to reflect on the past month and set myself up for the next to come.  It is something that has helped me release the feelings that no longer serve me and call in some things that I desire.

We will be using plants because I love how nature allows me a way to find calmness in a normally hectic daily life.  During my time traveling and working on vegetable farms I found myself specifically drawn to flowers and herbs.  This led me to learn about each plants healing properties as well as their dye potential.  I love it so much because even carrying small tokens of plant medicine will keep me grounded in places like a New York City subway car that is packed and delayed and makes me want to tear my hair out.

Join Barrie of Beezie Textiles for an evening that is part ritual and part workshop, where we will use plants to dye fabric, make medicine and bundle our own smudge sticks.  We will be creating tools that we can keep with us as reminders of our new moon intentions and our own personal powers.

All materials are provided all you need to bring is an open mind and an open heart.
